Quality Dental Bonding Services to Improve Your Smile

If you have teeth that are chipped, gapped, or misshapen, dental bonding may be the solution. Dental bonding is a safe, simple, and effective method of repairing damage and improving the appearance of your teeth so that you have a bright, healthy smile once again. Fatemeh Hadjian, D.D.S., P.A., and her team specialize in quality dental bonding in Palm Desert, CA. Dr. Hadian and her team can evaluate your smile, discuss your insecurities, and offer safe, effective cosmetic and restorative dentistry solutions.

What Is Dental Bonding?

Dental bonding is a method of cosmetic dentistry. During the procedure, we will use a composite resin material customized to match the color of your surrounding teeth. This material can fill in small gaps between teeth, repair minor chips and cracks, and improve the size, shape, and overall appearance of your teeth. The procedure is reversible and may last up to 10 years with proper care and maintenance.

When & Why You Should Consider Composite Bonding for Teeth

You should consider composite bonding for teeth if you are self-conscious or unhappy with the size, shape, or appearance of your teeth. Because dental bonding is a cosmetic treatment, it is not medically necessary. However, it can significantly improve your confidence and restore your smile. We may recommend dental bonding if you have:

● Minor chips or cracks
● Chipped tooth
● Broken tooth
● Discolored or stained teeth
● Small gaps between your teeth
● Short or uneven teeth
● Misshapen teeth
● Misaligned or uneven teeth when eating or smiling

Teeth Bonding vs Veneers

Both teeth bonding and veneers can improve the overall appearance of your teeth. Porcelain veneers are ceramic shells customized to fit precisely over the front of your teeth. Before placing the veneers, we will remove a small amount of dental enamel to help the veneers adhere better to the surface of your teeth. Veneers are not reversible, and you may need to replace them in 10-20 years. Dental bonding is reversible and does not typically require extensive tooth preparation or enamel removal. You will likely need to replace your bonding every 10 years.

What to Expect From the Dental Bonding Process

Before we can recommend dental bonding, we will evaluate the overall appearance and health of your teeth and gums. We will do a full dental exam and take dental x-rays. We will go over your concerns and goals and explain the procedure fully. We may not recommend dental bonding if you have significant tooth decay, cavities, a dental or oral infection, gum disease, or another dental or oral health problem. If we do recommend dental bonding, we will show you samples of composite resin and help you choose a shade that matches your surrounding natural teeth. We will then roughen up the surface of your tooth and apply a special conditioning liquid. Next, we will apply the composite resin material and mold and smooth it into shape. We use a special UV light to cure the material and ensure it fully bonds to your teeth. Finally, we will polish your tooth and make sure it looks perfect. Each tooth may take between 30 and 60 minutes. The process isn’t painful, and you can return to your normal activities once we’re done.

Caring for Your Teeth Before and After Teeth Bonding

In order to protect your teeth, it’s important to maintain a faithful oral hygiene routine before and after dental bonding. We recommend that you brush your teeth twice per day with fluoridated toothpaste. We also recommend you floss at least once per day and use an antiseptic mouthwash that offers cavity protection. You will need to visit us once or twice per year for dental check-ups and cleanings.
